LAURA PUÉRTOLAS
DIRECTOR
She combines a wide knowledge in consulting and business with research experience, and has a permanently open and curious attitude.
More than 20 years of experience in international research projects, strategic consulting, and social innovation, leading more than 60 multi-stakeholder projects and reporting to senior management of private clients (Repsol, Gas Natural, Grupo Agbar, Abertis, Leroy Merlin, Calidad Pascual, IKEA, Caixabank, etc.), public clients (European Commission, Government of Mexico, Barcelona City Council, MITECO, Barcelona, Provincial Council, etc.), academic clients (NIVA, Aarhus University, INRAE, CNRS, etc.), and third-sector clients (IUCN, etc.). She has worked as a Project Director at the Institut Cerdà, as a researcher with the FEHM group in the Department of Ecology at the University of Barcelona (UB), and in the public sector as an advisor to the Catalan Water Agency (ACA). She holds a PhD in Ecology and Environmental Sciences (UB), a Diploma in Advanced Studies (MSc) in Fundamental and Applied Ecology (UB) and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences (UB).
LAIA VICENS_
SENIOR RESEARCHER
She has a solid scientific base and a transversal career in environmental research and public health, with an interdisciplinary vision that integrates artistic practice.
She has extensive experience in research in applied ecology and environmental epidemiology, developed in leading institutions such as the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF), the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (IMIM-CREAL), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and ISGlobal. He has participated in several national and international research projects related to atmospheric pollution, the environment and health, carrying out fieldwork, database management and analysis, statistical processing, writing technical reports and project reports, as well as scientific publications and communication of results at international conferences. She has worked as a teacher with project-based approaches and contributing to pedagogical innovation and the scientific education of students. She holds a PhD in Biomedicine from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), a Master’s in Public Health (MSc, UPF), a Master’s in Secondary Education Teacher Training (UPF) and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She complemented her training with higher studies in dramatic art at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.
Anna Martín
RESEARCHER
With a multidisciplinary vision and great versatility, she has experience in research, field and laboratory work, and project management, combined with her passion for marine ecosystems.
She worked as a project technician at the Strategic Coastal Office of the Barcelona City Council, participating in the planning and management of initiatives linked to sustainability and coastal governance. She was engaged in the MECO project as part of her Final Degree Project, focused on the analysis of elasmobranch sightings in the Mediterranean through citizen science, combining research, data analysis and scientific dissemination. Anna has lived in the Maldives, where she has been in direct contact with marine biodiversity, deepening her knowledge of tropical marine ecosystems and carrying out environmental dissemination and awareness-raising tasks, combined with scuba diving and apnea instruction. This international experience has strengthened her global perspective on marine conservation and sustainable development. With a solid background in Marine Sciences and Technologies from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and currently studying the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development Management at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), she defines herself as a decisive, motivating and highly adaptable person, with a strong passion for the environment and special interest in the connection between science, society and sustainability.
ANTONI J. HERNÀNDEZ
SENIOR CONSULTANT
He has had a long career in industrial engineering with a technological component, and also has extensive experience as a developer and programmer of applications related to sustainability.
With more than 25 years of experience as an Engineer and Programmer, he has worked in both the public and private sectors. He has collaborated with various administrations and has acquired extensive knowledge of the local scene. He has managed works and projects related to energy, water, remote management, electric vehicles or Big Data. As an application developer, he has a very diverse career, ranging from ecosystem monitoring software to works management, quality control, logistics, infrastructure design or urban accessibility, as well as mobile applications for field work, highlighting the use of GIS, real-time GPS or routing. He has participated in international research projects in Europe and South America. He has a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management (UB), and is a Technical Industrial Engineer (ESEIAAT) and Industrial Engineer (EPSEM-UPC).
JAIME ORDÓÑEZ
COLLABORATOR
He has a long history working with multidisciplinary management and research groups, along with experience in consulting and the business sector.
He has worked as a researcher in numerous reservoir management and research projects, linked to various organizations, such as the UB or the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). For more than 10 years he has participated in the analysis of the water quality of the reservoirs that supply the Barcelona area. He has published and presented his research in national and international journals and conferences and is the editorial secretary of a scientific journal. He has also worked as a consultant on rural development projects in Colombia and has experience in the field of entrepreneurship. He holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Ecology from the University of Barcelona (UB), a Diploma of Advanced Studies (MSc) in Ecology (UB) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the National University of Colombia (UN).
